Benefits of Weldable Webbing Curtains

  • When tensioned vertically the curtains sit flatter because the webbing is welded to the curtain fabric.
  • Welded webbing curtains fit older trucks and trailers better.
  • Welded webbing curtains are about 10% cheaper than sleeved curtains because they have fewer components.
  • Easier to repair

Benefits of Sleeved Curtains

Sleeved curtains are stronger than the welded webbing curtains. This is due to the different webbing used, not the curtain fabric itself.

Insulated Curtains

Both welded webbing and pocketed curtain systems can be insulated to suit refrigerated trucks and trailers.

Polyweld's insulated curtains have been independently tested by CSIRO to give thermal resistance ratings listed below. Tests performed to Australian standard ASTM 518/AS2464.5-1985

Significant operating cost savings are possible with Polyweld insulated curtains.

Better thermal performance means lower achievable temperatures. Polyweld's insulation material consists of a layer of air cells laminated to a layer of aluminium foil. These two elements give the material both insulating and reflective properties.

Polyweld's material does not absorb water. Some types of open cell foam insulation do absorb water whichs increases their weight and decreases their insulation efficiency.

Factors Affecting Thermal Performance

There are many factors effecting the performance of a curtain sided refrigerated vehicle; the selection of the refrigeration unit, the vehicles construction, the colour of the curtain and the body, the temperature of the freight on loading and the amount of air leakage into the vehicle. Your choice of insulated curtains will dramatically affect your refrigeration fuel costs and the minimum achievable temperature inside your vehicle.

Fuel Savings

More effective insulation means better fuel efficiency. Save up to 55% on refrigeration costs with our single layer Superchill curtain and up to 65% with our double layer Ultrachill curtain. Fuel savings will depend on your specific application.

Achievable Temperature

How low can you go? Polyweld's customers have been astounded by the temperatures they can achieve with Polyweld's Ultrachill insulated curtains. Better thermal performance means lower achievable temperatures. It has been calculated that heat transfer can be reduced by up to 40% by choosing Superchill, and by up to 50% by choosing Ultrachill.*

Air Ducts

Improve cold air circulation around your vehicle by installing Polyweld Air Duct.

We will manufacture an air duct to your specifications.

1. Layer - Flexichill

  • Flexible insulation for easy operation
  • Suitable where flexibility is favoured over thermal performance

2. Layer - Superchill

  • Double the insulation for double the performance
  • Save up to 55% on refrigeration fuel costs
  • The most versatile curtains on the market
  • What people are saying about Superchill..."We chose Superchill for its versatility, we carry both cold and normal freight. Providing the freight goes in cold, we have no problem keeping the freight at the required temperature."

3. Layer - Ultrachill

  • Triple the insulation for superior insulating performance
  • Save up to 65% on refrigeration fuel costs
  • Achieve sub-zero temperatures in warm climates.
  • What people are saying about Ultrachill..."They're unbelievable, I wouldn't consider going back to double or single layers. I can achieve at least 40 degree C temperature difference without worrying" -Terry East of FCL Transport
