The arc of the sun has an oblique incidence in the colder months. In winter, it is desirable to allow sunlight into the living area from the east and north. Appropriately designed, membrane structures allow passive solar heating during winter, whilst providing protection from sun during the summer. This technique can be applied to all building types.
